Police Harleys. As most of you, I have seen police Harley-Davidson motorcycles since I was a child. Not for every one hundred years of Harley-Davidson has been supplying motorcycles for the police. Although some days it feels like it.
Harley began to produce motorcycles for the police in 1908 and has been doing ever since. Today there are cops on Harleys in 45 countries. Harleys are used in more than 3,400 police agencies in the U.S. only.
In a recent article in the journal enthusiastic, Steve St. Thomas, Director of the Police and Fleet Sales, spoke on the anniversary of the programs. Harley is the addition of a new 100th anniversary sticker on the front fender of the police motorcycles. They have also added a medal and a metal tank 100 anniversary madallion HD police badge on the front fender of the models of Peace Officer Special Edition.
Mew two programs for 2008 include FLHTP Police Electra Glide, Road King and Sportster Police FLHP 883. FL models have lights chase, an air suspension seat alone, a 103-cu-in. powertrain, oil coolers, ABS optional on Electra Glide and Road King and tire bead retention.
There is also the special edition Office of Peace and Fire models available in the Electra Glide, Ultra Glide, Road King, Fat Boy and Heritage Classic. These have the same technical characteristics as the stock bikes, but with unique paint and emblems of the deposit.
