Whether lighting a police motorcycle, a fully dressed touring machine or a helicopter with a front raked Springer, Harley Davidson engine is a mechanical marvel that is quite unique. Presented here is an article that offers several reasons why the Harley Davidson engine is so unique.

Appearance

One factor in the first place, which makes the Harley Davidson engine unique is its appearance, or design. Although some smaller models have been produced by Harley Davidson through the years, most of their cycles, including engines are quite large in size.

There are different types of engines have powered Harley through the decades. In the early years of Harley, most engines were known as F-heads and flat heads, these were followed by Knuckleheads, then Panheads in Shovelheads, then evolution and Twin Cam engines.

The names of the different styles of Harley Davidson engines are based primarily on the design of the heads of several engines' cylinder and valve covers. The engine has a flat head flat head, cylinder vent, the knucklehead engine includes valve covers that look like knuckles, flathead engine with cylinder heads and valve covers that look like pans and engine Shovelhead cylinder heads features that resemble blades.

The engines of evolution that power motorcycles from mid-1980 and 1999 have more square-shaped heads and valve covers, while the modern dual-cam engine of the revolution have radical improvements in the basic design of V-Twin engine.

In recent years, many other motorcycle manufacturers have started producing motorcycles that at first glance could be confused with Harley Davidson. These bikes have Fatbob style gas tanks, wide front end, low tables and V-Twin engines. Closer inspection however, one can see that the pseudo-Harley engines are not as solid workhorse and so real-like Harley engines.

Another factor that makes the Harley Davidson engine is only its distinctive sound. Often described as guttural sound of a Harley engine is unmistakable. The deep, rumbling sound and muscle produced by the motors is a feature that makes some people want to buy these motorcycles. Some riders like to accentuate the sound of your bike by installing systems tailored to escape. These exhaust systems usually alter the sound produced by its engines, with an increase in the volume of engine noise and other adding a different tone to the sound of the engine.

The sounds produced by other Harley Davidson motorcycle brands that resemble not have the same powerful noise are known.
